Australia has now spent more than 60 days in lockdown with states finally starting to ease restrictions. Coronavirus has completely changed life as we once knew it. We’ve had to sacrifice a lot to get to the stage where we are now allowed a bit more freedom. However, despite things starting to look better, we might never go back to the way we used to live, even if a vaccine is found. People are going to complain and point fingers, but the reality is, the world is changing, or rather, has changed. Who’s to blame? Us. Us as a species. I kid you not, this was coming. It was bound to happen. The day humankind decided to disrespect nature to satisfy our greed, it was written in the stars. Each one of us is responsible for where we’re right now. It’s not surprising to see other forms of life thrive with us out of the picture.
I have never understood how we can be so ignorant to the damage we’re causing to our planet. How can we not realize that we are the once who will ultimately pay the price for our actions? Sure, we’re going to take down every other species with us, but make no mistake, once we’re gone, Earth will thrive again. There will be life after us, just that it won’t be human life.
Coronavirus is a wakeup call; it is proof that there is still hope. This pandemic could either be the beginning of the end of us or the beginning of a better future for us and it is up to us to decide what we want it to be. Life might not go back to how it used to be, but it can get better.
