The fear of failure paralyses us. It stops us from chasing our dreams and following our soul. Not a lot of people dare to look failure at its eyes and laugh back at it. We fear failure because of the pressure the society puts on us constantly. Who wants to be looked down and called a failure because they didn’t make it big? No one. But if you want to live a fulfilling life you should gain that courage. You should realize that the prospect of failure is not bigger than the reward of succeeding. After all, what’s the worst that can happen if you fail? You go back to where you were before you tried and now you either get another shot at it or you start doing the basic shit everyone does which the society reckons is what people should do instead of chasing their dreams. Do not let society tell you what you can or cannot do. Do not let society tell you how to live your life and more importantly, do not let fear hold you back.
See, no matter what you do, you’re going die and when you die nobody is going to care how you lived your life unless you have made the world a better place while you were alive. Working 9-5 for the rest of your life is not going to do it and following your passion may or may not do it. But, one of the above choices will make sure you’ve lived a happy life and you know which choice that is. Now that you have realised you’re going to die anyway one day, might as well live doing whatever the fuck you want to do and then rest well and truly in peace when you’re done.
Fear is simply not worth sacrificing your dreams for because there’s nothing you are going to lose anyway. Oh yeah living your life the way you want to is going to get you some stick from the society. Especially from your neighbour next door who thinks COVID is Bill Gates’ masterplan to track people. But is his opinion about you worth sacrificing your dreams for? Think about it. If you stop chasing your dreams now because you’re scared of what he thinks about you, the only person who’s going to lose something in their life is you, not him.
If you are afraid to give it a shot because you reckon you’re not good enough to get the job done, I am here to tell you that you’re wrong. There is no way that you’re going to know for a certainty whether you’re good enough to get something done or not unless you give it a try. And if you fail, well at least you tried and gained some experience, so try again using that experience next time. Successful people you know aren’t supremely talented people who never failed. They’re ordinary blokes who failed more times than you ever tried. Life is too short to not live the way you want to. There is no meaning to your life if you aren’t doing what you’re meant to do. There is a purpose to your life, a meaning that you may or may not know. If you have already found out what that meaning is, chase it. Chase it relentlessly and if you haven’t found that meaning yet, be patient and continue searching for it. It’s waiting for you there somewhere. But no matter what it is, never let the fear of failure stop you. Embrace that fear, recognize that fear and then crush it by doing whatever you wanted to do anyway.
